ONE’s Objective:
ONE GmbH - part of the global Orange group - is an Austrian mobile operator.
ONE embarked on entering the mCommerce market by providing its base of subscribers and merchants with a secure, user-friendly, open and flexible payment system.
ONE's top priorities in implementing a mobile Commerce service included:
- Empowering subscribers to easily and securely purchase a multitude of products, content, and services using their mobile phones.
- Enabling purchases (micro and macro) to be charged to ONE's monthly bill (postpaid) or directly debited from prepaid accounts.
- Increasing revenues and reducing churn by providing subscribers with attractive value-added services with flexible forms of payment.
- Providing interoperability to allow subscribers to buy goods from a vast variety of merchants, including merchants from other operators, exposing merchants to a vast variety of subscribers from other operators, and integrating with the Paybox payment service.
The Trivnet Solution:
ONE selected Trivnet because its platform met all of the required criteria-most notably:
- Security
- Ease of use
- Simple manageability
- Straightforward deployment
After quickly integrating Trivnet's platform with ONE’s billing and back-end infrastructure, ONE launched its mobile shopping network. There are now a multitude of services offered to ONE’s subscribers, including digital content, mobile ticketing, gaming, vending and more.
ONE’s subscribers were now able to purchase a wide variety of products and services using different access channels, including Web, WAP and SMS. Both high and low-value purchases were accepted and charged to the consumer's monthly bill or debited from a prepaid account.
Customers were also able to view their purchase history at any time via Trivnet's customer self-care application on the ONE web portal.
Merchants managed purchases using Trivnet's merchant interface, which is fully compliant with the Austrian MIA (Mobilecommerce Interface Austria) standard. They were also able to manage their transactions and risks, as well as create reports using Trivnet’s merchant self-care application.
The flexibility of Trivnet's platform was proved yet again when ONE acquired a banking license to deal more freely in mobile commerce, requiring the platform to support an entirely new set of Austrian regulations.
An impressive host of merchants and content/service providers are now connected to the service.
The Subscriber Experience:
Thanks to online provisioning, ONE’s subscribers are never required to enter any personal information to become automatically enabled. Subscribers can view and manage all aspects of their account and purchase history via the web-based customer self-care application, conveniently accessible by a single sign-on from ONE’s web portal.
Successful Service Adaptation:
ONE’s mobile shopping network has proven to be highly successful. Within just a few months of launching the service, there were tens of thousands of active users, many of whom were repeat customers. Statistics have shown a steadily increasing amount of ONE’s customers choosing to pay for goods and services using their mobile phones rather than their credit or debit cards
Trivnet's Expertise in Interoperability:
In 2007 Trivnet implemented ONE’s requirement to make its payment solution completely interoperable with Mobilkom (the largest mobile operator in Austria), and Paybox (a payment service). ONE now serves as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) and merchant aggregator. This initiative allows ONE and Mobilkom subscribers to interact with merchants from both operators as well as from Paybox.
Trivnet, which had already deployed a successful interoperable payment system in Spain, had the right technology at the right time. Its ability to rapidly deploy this interoperable solution is now helping to significantly increase the volume of mobile commerce transactions of both operators.
